summer
There is a quote I once read that really hits home. It goes something like this: “But
how could anyone who's ever seen a summer - big explosion of green and skies lit
up electric with splashy sunsets, a riot of flowers and wind that smells like
honey - pick the snow?” This was written by Lauren Oliver and is in her book
Requiem. I think I must agree with Mrs. Olive when I say, Summer is by far the best one for
me!
Of all of the seasons which do you prefer? Would it be the crisp, colorful fall?
How about that cold, snowy winter? Perhaps you enjoy the sounds and busyness of
spring? Or maybe your preference is the same as mine?
My all time favorite season has got to be summer. Part of it might have to do
with the fact that I was born in the summer, but there is much more to it than
that! Summer is that relaxing time of the year where you just chill out and
enjoy the summer breeze. The heat is more than addictive and the feel of the
slight breeze hitting your face is heavenly. I don’t see how another season
could compare!
Fall is lovely in all it’s splendor, and yet it’s a time for goodbyes. The
animals pack up getting ready for the winter, and the flowers shrivel up and
die! The crisp cool air makes you shiver and sneeze! No I definitely like the
summer!
Spring is not bad. The flowers come out to say hello and the animals scurry from
their homes. The birds play their tune and the flowers bloom. Yet it’s not as
wonderful as the summer!
Winter is far too cold! The cold kills the flowers and sends the animals
scurrying home. I’ll admit that the snow looks lovely. Like a shimmering land of
fluff. I enjoy the hot chocolate and the warm toasty fire, but the heat compares
none to the sun in the summer.
The summer heat feels so good and warm, it surely beats the heat of the house in
the long cold winter! All the smells of the summer! The grills and the flowers
have a tantalizing aroma much better than that of the spring. Flowers are all
over brightening the fields with their beautiful colors. They look so alive and
cheerful that they definitely beat the fall.
If it gets too hot you can just pack up and go to the creek. You can fish or you
can just swim but no matter what you will have a bunch of fun. If the creek is
too far you can always find a pond or maybe even a pool. The water is cool and
refreshing. The perfect temperature! I can still remember all those summers we
spent out in the water.
The food is good too! Everyone takes advantage of the nice weather and is
outside cooking “summer food”. Almost anywhere you go you can smell the food.
Ribs, corn, steak, and potatoes. Those are just some the delicious food we eat.
Summer really is hard to beat.
I love the nights that you spend outside with your friends around a big bonfire.
The crackling of the fire and the stars so bright give off the perfect light.
The sounds of laughter fill the air with sweet sounds, and the smell is too good
to resist. Those are the moments I’ll always treasure.
